Welcome from Governor Burgum

Welcome to North Dakota!

Kathryn and I are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve the citizens and visitors of our great state. We are thrilled you are here and hope you have the chance to experience all that Legendary North Dakota has to offer.

From the majestic Great Plains to our vibrant, history-filled communities, there are memory-making experiences for everyone.

Whether you are visiting family or here for work, we hope you’ll explore our endless outdoor opportunities. Hunting, fishing, and birding attract enthusiasts from all over the United States. Our many state parks and trail systems serve as a striking backdrop for world-class hiking, mountain biking, boating, and year-round recreation that make the wide-open spaces of North Dakota an unforgettable adventure.

Beautiful Theodore Roosevelt National Park, with its wild horses and herds of elk and bison, was named one of the top destinations in the world last year. It was here that Teddy Roosevelt experienced the American West that shaped his life.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Nation, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, Spirit Lake Tribe, and Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe all offer experiences that provide a lens to the incredible culture and history of Plains Indians, as well as offering modern gaming and entertainment.

Experience the awe-inspiring Northern Lights reflecting across our expansive sky, or embrace your curiosity and get off the beaten path to explore a scenic byway or backroad. And don’t forget to visit our historic downtowns filled with unique shopping, diverse dining, and exciting nightlife.

Whether it is enjoying a beautiful sunset or our burgeoning arts, entertainment, and food scene, you can count on our friendly and welcoming citizens to make North Dakota a unique destination – for a quick trip or a lifetime. Celebrate our heritage – and be part of our future.
