The Timeless Traditions Workshop is back by popular demand! This hands-on, FREE one-hour program is held on the second Saturday of every month and is designed for children ages 8+ as well as beginner adults eager to explore the practical skills of the 19th-century frontier. Each session introduces a new skill or builds upon the previous month’s craft. Participants will learn the history behind the craft, observe a demonstration, and complete a small project using provided supplies.
This month’s featured craft is Sewing Samplers & Basic Stitches, a traditional skill that played an important role in everyday life throughout the 1800s. Sewing samplers were commonly used to teach and practice essential stitches, helping beginners develop the skills needed to mend clothing, create household linens, and produce decorative needlework.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the history and tradition of sewing samplers before practicing several basic hand-sewing stitches and creating their own sampler to take home. Perfect for beginners and all skill levels, this program blends history, creativity, and practical skills while celebrating the tradition of handmade needlework. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
This free, family-friendly event is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.
