The Timeless Traditions Workshop is back by popular demand! This hands-on, FREE one-hour program is held on the second Saturday of every month and is designed for children ages 8+ as well as beginner adults eager to explore the practical skills of the 19th-century frontier. Each session introduces a new skill or builds upon the previous month’s craft. Participants will learn the history behind the craft, observe a demonstration, and complete a small project using provided supplies. This month’s featured craft is Paper Quilling, a decorative art form that became especially popular during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Using thin strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and arranged into intricate designs, people created beautiful decorations, artwork, and handmade gifts. This delicate craft was a popular pastime and offered a creative way to transform simple materials into elaborate works of art. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the history and tradition of paper quilling before practicing basic rolling and shaping techniques to create their own decorative designs to take home. Perfect for beginners and all skill levels, this program blends history, creativity, and hands-on learning while celebrating a centuries-old decorative art. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. This free, family-friendly event is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.
