The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston will host “Timeless Traditions: Frontier-Style Braided Rugs” on Saturday, April 11, 2-3 p.m. The free program is open to ages 8 and up and blends history, creativity, and frontier ingenuity. No prior experience is necessary.
Discover how 19th-century families reused fabric scraps to create durable and decorative braided rugs. Learn the basics of this traditional craft and create a rag rug coaster to take home.
This event is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our country’s 250th birthday.
Fort Buford State Historic Site and the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center are managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and closed Sunday-Monday. Fort Buford is closed for the season.
