Timeless Traditions: Corn Husk Dolls

The Timeless Traditions Workshop is back by popular demand! This hands-on, FREE one-hour program is held on the second Saturday of every month and is designed for children ages 8+ as well as beginner adults eager to explore the practical skills of the 19th-century frontier. Each session introduces a new skill or builds upon the previous month’s craft. Participants will learn the history behind the craft, observe a demonstration, and complete a small project using provided supplies. This month’s featured craft is Corn Husk Dolls, a traditional handmade toy with deep roots in North American history. Created from dried corn husks and other simple materials, these dolls are an example of how people used readily available resources to create toys and meaningful handmade objects. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the history and tradition of corn husk dolls before creating their own doll to take home. Perfect for families and all skill levels, this program blends history, creativity, and hands-on learning. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. This free, family-friendly event is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.
