On July 4, 1987, the people of Williston dedicated this monument to agriculture. It is a tribute to the men and women of the land who settled the prairie and raised wheat and other grain. Their labors made wheat the economic staff of life for the prairie and the nutritional staff of life for the world. The monument was designed and built by David Njos. It is located in northwest Williston, in Davidson Park. This monument has three black granite plaques, the same stone used in the National Vietnam Memorial. Names of area pioneers of the last century and the next century have been and will be engraved on the black granite stone.  Three iron stalks of wheat rise above it, 35 feet into the sky. This is a permanent and fitting tribute to remind future generations of the progress made by our loved ones. Since the dedication of this monument, there have been continued requests to add names to this remarkable tribute.
