Fort Mandan State Historic Site
Take a step back in time when you visit the reconstructed Fort Mandan, the winter home of the Lewis & Clark Expedition from 1804-1805. The fully-furnished quarters bring to life what it was like for the brave men in the Corps of Discovery during that North Dakota winter more than 200 years ago.
The site also includes the Fort Mandan Visitor Center, an exhibit about coal combustion products, a play and discovery area with outdoor Kiwanis playground, Seaman Overlook with a heroic-sized steel sculpture of Lewis' dog, walking trails, picnic areas and cross-country ski trails.
Guided tours are available on request.The Fort Mandan Visitor Center is dog friendly! Leashed dogs are welcome inside the visitor center alongside their owners, making it a perfect destination for history buffs and their furry companions.
