Legacy Park Trail
Legacy Path is a scenic, year-round multi-use trail that follows a former railroad grade between Rolla and St. John. It’s an easy, mostly level route that’s popular for walking, biking, and even horseback riding, with wide-open Turtle Mountain views and plenty of space to slow down and enjoy the fresh air.
One highlight along the way is the Turtle Mountain Scenic Byway Welcome Monument—an eye-catching landmark created by renowned artist Bennett Brien. You’ll find it on Rolette County Highway 6 (the Turtle Mountain Scenic Byway) near the Wakopa Trail to St. John. The monument is owned and maintained by the City of St. John, the only town located directly on the Turtle Mountain Scenic Byway.
The Legacy Path ends at its junction with ND Highway 30, making it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the Byway or looking for a quick outdoor break.
