Arrows & Atlatls Saturday Program

Pembina State Museum is hosting free, family-friendly programs on Saturdays to share the games and skills that shaped the history of the region. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Sept. 26, Arrows & Atlatls, 1-4 p.m. Learn about the tools prehistoric hunters used to survive and thrive on the prairies. Test your skills with targets, bows, arrows, and spear-throwers on the back lawn.

Upcoming programs:

Oct. 3, Pembina and the Métis Resistance, 2-3 p.m. Discover what role the town of Pembina played in the Métis’ struggle for recognition and representation in 1869.

Oct. 10, John O'Neill, Fenians, and the 1871 Pembina Raid, 2-3 p.m. Learn about the exploits of the Fenian freedom fighter John O’Neill and his role in the strange Fenian Raid at Pembina in 1871.

Oct. 17, Make Your Own Red River Oxcart, 1-4 p.m. Make a model oxcart with popsicle sticks to take home, and learn about the Métis, oxcarts, and the Red River Valley fur trade.

Oct. 24, Pumpkin Carving, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Swing by, grab a pumpkin, and get crafty! Pumpkins are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with all the tools and painting supplies needed to carve and decorate your gourd-eous creation.

These family-friendly events are part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our country’s 250th birthday.

The Pembina State Museum, located at 805 Highway 59, Pembina, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
