The public is invited to the Monthly Movie Matinee screening at the Pembina State Museum on Saturday, July 26. This month we are showing “Mainstreet of the Northwest: The Story of the Northern Pacific,” a 90-minute documentary from Lakeland PBS that traces the rise and impact of the Northern Pacific Railway. Free screenings will begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Pop and candy will be available for sale in the Museum Store.

The film explores how this transcontinental railroad helped forge the American West, connecting Ashland, Wisconsin, westward to Seattle, Washington, and St. Paul, Minnesota, to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The story of the Northern Pacific Railway is the story of America’s transformation into the modern era.
