‘Books and Banter’
Get In Contact
“Books and Banter,” a monthly book club featuring Victorian-era literature, will meet Tuesday, Oct. 20, 9-10 a.m. at the Chateau de Morès Interpretive Center in Medora. Book selections are intended to be easy to read and fun to discuss. Coffee and tea will be provided.
This month's book, “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe, is available to read for free via Project Gutenberg. In addition to getting in the spooky spirit, the discussion will touch on Poe's place in American literature and memorable lines from his poetry and prose.
When the State Historical Society of North Dakota took possession of the Chateau de Morès, it held a library so extensive that locals would borrow its books. The subjects of these books range from poems to military tactics, early childhood education to romance novels, and animal husbandry to human medical care.
This event is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our country’s 250th birthday.
