Killdeer Mountain Battlefield State Historic Site

Site commemorates battle fought July 28, 1864, between 2,200 troops commanded by Gen. Alfred Sully and 6,000 Sioux Indians. An interpretive plaque explains the battle.

The one-acre site is surrounded by private land, visitors are asked to be respectful of the site boundaries.
