Fort Sauerkraut
Few history buffs are aware of this unused structure that once stood proudly and expectantly to protect settlers from Native Americans. An attack never happened and the settlers returned to their homes, abandoning the fort. It was reconstructed in 2004 on the original site. The portion reconstructed depicts the inner sod shelter of sod walls with railroad ties for a roof.
