Arts for Vets

Arts for Vets is a nonprofit organization serving children, veterans, active duty, disabled and the entire community 7 days a week for the past 10 years.

We provide art, music and cooking classes for the entire community, including stained glass, flame painting, jewelry making, embroidery, oil/acrylic/watercolor painting, dream catcher making, embroidery, monotype & cyanotype printing and much more. Besides those classes, we offer Peer Support weekly with a certified Peer Support Counselor and Wellbriety, a group meeting that supports wellness, healthy living and sobriety, twice a week. We are a safe place and never turn anyone away. We have year round art exhibits at the courthouse and UND featuring art from our veteran and active duty members. We collaborate with the Downtown Development Association for events such as bringing the local middle school kids to our gallery for art classes. We teach classes for the disabled children from Hope Inc. monthly and the special needs population from Development Homes Inc. weekly. We participate in Vets in the Park, Sertoma Park on Independence Day, UND reception for vets on Veterans Day, painting with the public for the Downtown Street Fair, Grand Cities Celebration with the police department, murals with children at schools and parks (ex: new Valley Middle School and Skidmore Park), outreach programs like summer art camp for kids at the Grand Forks Air Force Base, and so much more. We are truly an asset to the community. Arts for Vets has won numerous awards, including our most recent, the North Dakota Governor's Award for the Arts and the Gold Star for our classes in the annual Community Votes.
