Sargent County Museum

Museum contains 36,000 square feet of early 1900s cars, original Bobcat loaders (including an electric one from the 1960's & the 6 wheel proto type), military display and many household and general items from the past. This is all in four buildings connected with a meeting area that can be used. We are handicapped accessible in all buildings. Visit our website (www.sargentcountymuseum.org) for pictures and information and also our Face Book page (https://www.facebook.com/sargentcountymuseum). We now have a computer with a database of all Sargent County cemeteries. This includes pictures of the tombstones, obituaries, and program cards of a funeral if available. We have a World War I & World War II exhibit with hands-on items and a video. It also contains a binder of one World War I soldiers' items and we have one for a World War II soldiers also with letters they wrote home. We have added in 2021 a pre-1880 horse drawn hearse. New in 2024 is a vintage printing press room in building #3. Buildings #1, #2, and #3 are climate controlled. We have monitors in all buildings with videos being shown on how the items in that building were used. Our flipbooks give you all the information you would like to read on the items in our buildings. Our new building finished in August of 2024, which features over 340 feet of the History of the Bobcat Loader. This building has concrete floors and is climate controlled. It also has a STEM/Play Area in the northeast corner. The Sargent County Museum has hands on exhibits to enjoy throughout all the buildings. It has something for everyone! Even benches and places to sit down and relax for a moment when the journey through all the buildings gets to be hours long. Come see what southeast North Dakota has to offer!
