Summer Floral Celebration and Handshake Across the Border

The Summer Floral Celebration highlights the Garden in all its glory in full bloom. This is a family friendly event featuring live music, garden tours and activities for kids. As a part of an annual tradition, hundreds of participants will meet at the border between the United States and Canada on August 7th to shake hands across the 49th parallel in a demonstration of international friendship. In its third year, the Handshake Across the Border at the International Peace Garden provides a powerful reminder of the foundation of the Garden – the pledge of peace and cooperation between two nations.

“The Handshake Across the Border keeps getting bigger and bigger,” said Tim Chapman, CEO of the International Peace Garden. “People want to be a part of it and come together to honor the commitment to peace that was founded here in 1932 and grows stronger every year.
