New Rockford

New Rockford knew the value of small-town Main Street long before the call went out to revitalize downtown areas as a way to attract visitors and spur economic growth. But that wasn’t on the minds of residents back in 1991. They just wanted an arts center and theater.

Today, the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts overseas theatrical production in the historic Opera House. The complex includes the theater, coffee shop, wine bar and dance studio that is the centerpiece of downtown. As a result of that, a second venue was recently opened – the Old Church Theatre.

The theater complex transformed a block of buildings, that now include the Latte Lobby bistro, which featured flatbread, wraps, sandwiches, soups and a variety of beverages.

Learn the history of the area at the Eddy County Museum. The Rockford Theater is a throwback that shows first-run movies in a historic setting. Before the show, grab a bite to eat at any of several dining options: Baker’s DozenBird Dawg Cafe or the Rockford Cafe are a few options.

Work off the extra calories at New Rockford Golf Course or Wonder Lanes bowling alley.

New Rockford’s location in the Central Flyway makes is a must-visit for waterfowl hunters and two hunting lodges can help make your hunt a success: Buck-It’s Hunting Lodge and Bison Lodge
