Paleo Site Tours
Get In Contact
Join us in the beautiful Badlands to learn about the creatures who lived here millions of years ago! This hands-on experience will walk attendees through a day in the life of a paleontologist, beginning with time out at an active fossil dig site, collecting specimens and ending with time in a working paleontology lab, learning how to clean and prepare the fossils for display and research.
The tours will begin at 8:30 AM MDT at the museum. A short drive will then be necessary to the field site in your personally owned vehicle. The tour group will return to town around noon. After a noon break, participants will return to the museum in the afternoon to learn the preparation and curation processes. The Site Tour will end around 4:30 PM, unless other previous arrangements were made.
Tours will run through the Summer (June through August) but may be available into September and October weather and schedule permitting. Half-day tours are also available upon request. Contact the museum for half-day and Fall tour availability.
Pre-registration and payment will be required the day prior to the start of the tour. Please call the museum with questions or to schedule a tour at (701) 523-3600.
Waivers of Liability will be required for all attendees.
