January 19, 2026 10:00am to 3:00pm

The public is invited to "Art in Action at the Museum" on Monday, Jan. 19, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck.

The Corridor of History will be lined with North Dakota artisans demonstrating their crafts. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe, ask questions, and learn more about the creative process directly from the artists themselves.

Hands-on art activity stations will offer opportunities to help build a community sticker mural, try rosemaling techniques featured on Norwegian immigration trunks, and experiment with watercolor painting based on the exhibit “Medora: Artist. Heiress. Bear Hunter. Namesake of a Wild West Town,” which features 26 original works.

This event is part of both the ND250 commemoration of the United States’ 250th birthday in 2026 and Vinterfest, a month-long celebration of winter on the northern Plains featuring educational programs, outdoor recreation, and cultural traditions.

For more information, contact Education Outreach Supervisor Madison Milbrath, [email protected] or 701.328.2794. The ND Heritage Center & State Museum is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., https://www.facebook.com/FortBufordMYCIC/ and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Find upcoming State Historical Society of North Dakota events at history.nd.gov/events.
