Make your Halloween watercolor paintings glow! All you need is a plan, patience, and creativity. Practice layering color to create a flowing effect inside and behind twisted trees, grinning jack-o'-lanterns, and crazy cats. Artist Kimberly Eslinger will take you through her process for creating lighting effects so that you can paint sunlit forest paths and glorious skies of your own.
During this 2-hour workshop, we will cover:
- Choosing watercolor paper
- Building depth in layers
- Planning for light
- Adding and lifting pigment
- Bushes (can you really have too many?)
- Choosing watercolors
- General artist tips that make life easier (I am only referring to watercolor)
You are welcome to bring the following supplies to class:
- Cold-pressed 140lb paper
- No 8 or 4 round brush + a rigger
- Fine point ink marker pen (Optional)
- Any watercolors that you have access to
- Watercolor pallet
- Any stiff, waterproof board for taping your work down.
- Reference photos for inspiration If you don’t have these supplies, don’t worry, Kim will bring extra; just let BAGA know.
