Get In Contact
The public is invited to “Weather Day” at Camp Hancock State Historic Site in Bismarck, Wednesday, June 18, 1-3 p.m. This free event is open to all ages. Daycares and summer camps are encouraged to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cookies and lemonade will be served.
From 1894 until 1939, Camp Hancock was home to Bismarck's U.S. Weather Bureau station, which compiled weather data collected throughout the state. This event celebrates the significant role of Camp Hancock in managing North Dakota’s weather, water, and climate data in the state’s early years.
“Weather Day” activities are sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, National Weather Service, North Dakota’s Gateway to Science, and Bismarck Public Library. Make a tornado in a bottle, learn how clouds produce rain, discover weather’s impact on buildings, and enjoy story time with Tiffany Towne.
