Discover the beauty of traditional Scandinavian crewel embroidery during a hands-on class from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, Bismarck. This workshop introduces participants ages 12 and up to the fundamentals of crewel stitching, a wool-on-linen embroidery technique that has decorated homes for centuries.

 Beginners are welcome, and no prior embroidery experience is required. The class includes instruction and all materials. Those ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

 Tickets are $25. Space is limited. Register by Friday, Jan. 30, at Crewel-Embroidery.eventbrite.com.

 This event is part of the ND250 commemoration of the United States’ 250th birthday and the regional Vinterfest, a month-long celebration of winter on the northern Plains featuring educational programs, outdoor recreation, and cultural traditions.
