The Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site is offering free weekly activities throughout July to promote learning and fun for adults and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Daycares and school groups are asked to contact the site supervisor in advance of their visits. Cookies and lemonade will be served unless otherwise noted.
July 9, Dinosaur Day, 2-4 p.m. Dinosaurs once roamed the land where the mansion now stands. Join us for a variety of dinosaur-themed activities.
July 14, Button Art, 2-4 p.m. Create a work of art using buttons.
July 16, Grass Roof Soddy Cabin, 2-4 p.m. Build a mini cabin with a grass roof.
July 21, Jacob’s Ladder Toy, 2-4 p.m. Make your own classic Victorian children's toy.
July 23, Explore the Mansion: Choose Your Own Adventure, 2-4 p.m. Did you know the Former Governors’ Mansion is filled with things to see and do? Explore the mansion and choose your own adventure!
July 28, Rope Bracelets, 2-4 p.m. Fashion a bracelet from colorful rope.
July 30, Pointillism Painting, 2-4 p.m. Learn about and create your own work of art by painting with dots.
The Former Governors’ Mansion, located at 320 E. Ave. B, Bismarck, is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission is free.
