Educational Activities at Chateau de Morès SHS

The Chateau de Morès Interpretive Center in Medora is offering free "Friday Fun" educational activities through Sept. 4 related to the history of the Chateau and leisure activities popular in the Victorian era. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All sessions are free and open to the public.

Aug. 7, Parlor Games, 1-4 p.m. Enjoy classic parlor games that entertained families and guests during the Victorian era. Discover how people at the Chateau spent evenings socializing before television and video games.

Aug. 14, Window Clings, 1-4 p.m. Learn about the Eureka glass windows in the Chateau de Morès as you create your own stained-glass effect with a leaf-shaped window cling.

Aug. 21, Victorian Postcards, 1-4 p.m. Postcards were a popular way to stay connected with friends and family in the late 19th century. Decorate a postcard inspired by the elegant designs and messages of the late 1800s.

Aug. 28, Pinch Pots, 1-4 p.m. Make a pinch pot using air-dry clay. Learn basic techniques for working with clay and explore different types of ceramic art.

Sept. 4, Duck Decoy Decorating, 1-4 p.m. Discover the history and purpose of practical and decorative duck decoys, then create your own unique masterpiece using a rubber duck as the foundation.

These programs are part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our country’s 250th birthday.
