Coal Vein Trail
The Coal Vein Trail provides a unique opportunity to learn about bentonite, clinker, and the coal seam. As you hike, you'll see beautiful layers of rock that narrate the 60-million-year geological history of the badlands. The vein of coal runs through this section of the park. The landscape is dotted with prickly pear cacti, juniper, and sage.
