McIntosh County Heritage Center
Since the official opening of the museum on October 5, 1978, many articles of historical importance in McIntosh County have been collected. Clothing, furnishings, food preparation and folk art items are just a few of the numerous items on exhibit that represent the early life of German-Russian settlers and subsequent generations.
The museum has been enhanced by a number of other buildings with historical significance. Visitors can explore the old Lutheran country church commonly known as Biederstedt Church and a one room country school. You can also visit a train depot building, train car, a barbershop and vintage farm machinery. There is even an outdoor oven used to bake bread during special celebrations at the heritage center.
