Fort Mandan Nature and History Trail
Visit the reconstruction of Fort Mandan - the original being famous for the place where the hospitable Mandan and Hidatsa peoples housed Lewis and Clark in 1804-1805. Fort Mandan is where Lewis and Clark became friends with such historical figures as Sacagawea, Toussaint Charbonneau, and Sheheke-Shote.
The visitor center offers guided tours at regular intervals each day.
Accessibility:
Equipment: Visitors using wheelchairs, mobility equipment, or strollers may need all-terrain tires or adaptive/motorized equipment for the surface type and grade.
Parking: There are 4 designated accessible parking spaces in the paved parking lot off 8th Street Southwest, 2 of which are van-accessible with striped access aisles.
Surface: The trail surface is gravel or natural (dirt, leaves, roots) and is typically at least 6 feet wide.
Grade: This trail is estimated to be gentle (3% or less)
