Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site near Fargo is hosting free family-friendly activities in July to promote learning and fun for adults and children.

July 13, The Fort Abercrombie Quartermaster Depot, 2-3 p.m. Discover the vital role the Fort Abercrombie Quartermaster Depot played in supplying frontier life and shaping the early military presence in Dakota Territory, presented by staff member John Beving.

July 20, Civil War Photography, 2-3 p.m. Join staff member Alan Fricker to explore how Civil War photography forever changed the way Americans saw war—capturing the brutal reality of battle, the faces of soldiers, and a nation in turmoil through the lens of a camera.

July 27, History of the Abercrombie Family, 2-3 p.m. Uncover the remarkable story of the Abercrombie family, whose legacy helped shape the early settlement and defense of the Red River Valley, presented by staff member Lis Fricker.

Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site, managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, is located at 935 Broadway North, Abercrombie. Summer hours are daily May 24-Sept. 1, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with guided tours available until 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
