Governor Doug Burgum along with North Dakota Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman, North Dakota Council on the Arts Executive Director Kim Konikow and AAA of North Dakota Director Gene LaDoucer selected the winning photos to be showcased in the 2020 North Dakota Governors Photo Contest.
Photographers submitted photos to one or more of the following categories: Road Trips, #InThisTogetherND, Wildlife, Badlands Scenery, Beyond Badlands Scenery and Main Street ND. Started in 2004 the Governor’s Photo Contests showcase the unique landscapes and activities of North Dakota seen through the lens of North Dakota amateur photographers. For the 2020 show 2,074 photos from 157 photographers were submitted for consideration, nearly doubling the amount from last years submissions. Seven of the photographers exhibiting work are being recognized for the first time in this contest.
