Cystic Fibrosis Turkey Trot
29 years ago, a group of people banded together to raise money for a friend needing a double lung transplant due to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. They hosted a road race, called the "Thanks For Giving Road Race" at Apple Creek Country Club on Thanksgiving Day, teaming up with the Cystic Fibrosis Association of North Dakota (CFA) for matching funds for their friend's lung transplant.
Since then the race has moved to the sho ... to help North Dakotans living with Cystic Fibrosis breathe easier. The Cystic Fibrosis Association helps families financially by assisting them with the costs of medication, equipment, supplies, lung transplants, college scholarships and travel assistance for medical appointments.
This year, the Turkey Trot will take place to raise money for the CFA's program expenses. There is a timed 10K run, 5K run/walk and a non-competitive family fun walk.
Check-in is at the Bismarck Elk's Club at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, and the races will begin from Arbor Avenue with staggered start times at 9:15 a.m. All participants who register by November 1 will receive a long sleeve T-shirt. (There will be plenty of shirts left, even up to race day, but they will be on a first come, first serve basis after November 1).
This is a fun event for all ages and the whole family. Earlybird registration ends October 31. Early bird pricing is $25 per person and $20 for ages 9 and under. There is a group discount for groups of four or more that register together.
Registration is still available on race day at $35/adult and $30 for youth 10 and under. There are no group discounts on race day.
