Approximately 30 miles west of Ellendale is the largest wind farm in both North and South Dakota, Tatanka Wind Farm. The farm covers approximately 14,080 acres and includes 120 Acciona Windpower 1.5MW wind turbine generators. The turbines produce enough power for nearly 50,000 American homes. Each turbine stands 262 feet tall and each blade is 122 feet long.
