Springtime is upon us and Theodore Roosevelt National Park is the perfect place to visit and explore during National Park Week, April 21 - 29. Visits to the park during this annual celebration will be free, as the National Park Service is offering free entrance at all of its 397 parks which regularly charge fees.

"Picture Yourself in a National Park" is the focus of this year's National Park Week. As part of the festivities, the park's new film will premier on Saturday, April 21 at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. MDT in the South Unit Visitor Center.

"Theodore Roosevelt National Park provides a wealth of photographic opportunities at this time of year," said Superintendent Valerie Naylor. "Migratory birds are returning to the badlands, you might catch a glimpse of newborn horses or an early bison calf, and grasses and trees are just starting to green up after the winter."

Other free National Park Week activities include:
• photo opportunities in front of Theodore Roosevelt's Maltese Cabin throughout the day on Saturday & Sunday, April 21-22 and 28-29;
• Maltese Cross Cabin Tours on Saturday & Sunday, April 21-22 and 28-29 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and 6:15 p.m. MDT (April 21 only);

• A variety of national park movies will be shown in the North Unit Visitor Center on both weekends at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CDT. Films will also be shown upon request Monday through Friday of National Park Week.

"So many new people are moving into the area with the energy boom," said Naylor. "We would like to invite everyone to the park and show them what we have to offer for recreation and family activities. We have something for just about everyone."
