North Dakota Recognized by National Media Outlets for Legendary Experiences

BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota was recognized by several major media outlets recently for tourism offerings across the state. USA Today, Men’s Journal and the Chicago Tribune all featured North Dakota in recent stories. North Dakota had more than 13 national media stories in June reaching an estimated audience of more than 88 million.

Recent media coverage includes:

“National stories such as these raise awareness and attract more people to the authentic experiences North Dakota provides,” said North Dakota Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman. “Our strategic marketing programs, including our work with national media, are building awareness and generating new revenue for North Dakota.”

Tourism remains the state’s third-largest industry and is a top contributor to North Dakota’s gross state product. The North Dakota travel and tourism industry supports more than 3,000 businesses and 42,000 jobs in all counties of North Dakota. From airports to restaurants, fishing guide services to on-stage entertainment, travel in North Dakota generates more than $3 billion in traveler spending. 

“With thousands of private businesses, attractions and events across the state, tourism brings visitors and dollars to our main streets,” Coleman said. “It provides recreational opportunities to visitors and citizens alike and continues to deliver on our legendary quality of life.”
