The North Dakota Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the 2018 Transportation Alternatives Program. The program provides funding for projects that include pedestrian and bicycle routes; safe routes to school and safe routes for non-driver projects; conversion and use of abandoned railroad corridor projects for non-motorized use; construction of turnouts and overlooks; and viewing areas along roadways and community improvement projects. To learn more about guidelines, eligibility and instructions, go to www.dot.nd.gov. Applications must be submitted by Dec. 30, 2016.
Now is the time to get your 2017 events onto the North Dakota Tourism Division website. Events posted on the site are used by travelers planning trips and by the Tourism Division in social media and website presentations. At this year’s Industry Summit, the Tourism Division announced a new cooperative advertising grant option to assist partners in funding their advertising efforts in 2017. Eligible advertising programs are marked with a co-op starburst in this year’s Media Plan. Click here for the Media Plan online.
Partners are encouraged to submit their grant application as soon as possible. The application is also online here. Please remember that this is a 1:1 cooperative marketing match. The Save the Date card for the 2017 North Dakota Travel Industry Conference will be going out next month, but you don’t have to wait to make your hotel reservations. The host hotel is the Radisson of Bismarck and the conference rate is $109 a night, plus tax. Call 701-255-6000 and reference the block under the Travel Industry Conference. Conference dates are April 17-19.

A few days remain for nonprofit organizations in Montana and North Dakota to apply for two $25,000 grants from XTO Energy. The grants, says XTO Energy, is a show of appreciation for the communities in eastern Montana and western North Dakota who have welcomed the company and its employees into their communities. Two grants will be awarded to organizations that are meeting a demonstrated need for communities in the Bakken. Grant requests are due on October 31. Click here for more.
