Jami Eberle Artist Statement:
My passion for photography first started when my aunt gave me my first toy camera in 7th grade. I began documenting the events that have made my life what it is today. I started to move beyond simple life documentation while taking a photography class in Denver, CO at MSCD. I moved to Las Vegas four years after that as an unsure student. Two months into my first semester while taking a drawing class, I changed my major to art. My focus has been photography ever since. While there, I had many opportunities to exhibit my work locally as well as internationally. In my final year, I was accepted into the Fine Arts program, recognized as an outstanding artist in photography, and was one of 3 artists selected by faculty to go to Adelaide, Australia. I graduated Cum Laude in May, and have been exhibiting my work in Las Vegas trough the summer.
My goal as an artist is to continue to explore myself as well as shoot and create what my gut instinct tells me to. I don’t feel a need to interpret every little detail, and am satisfied with creating something that doesn’t completely make sense to me. I am intrigued by this mysterious sub-conscious force that is guiding me.
As far as subject matter goes, I am exploring the thought of creating a narrative with single photos or in a series. I like the idea of shooting an image that may appear generic to the viewer, and then pairing it with text that I pulled from my journal entries over the past few years. Although the words are specific to my life experiences, I believe it is the bond of common human struggles that can relate to the viewer. At the same time, it is the individual paths that we are all on, which cause people to interpret like things differently.

After the Reception on Saturday, Justin Meidinger and Barry Glynn will perform a half hour concert again free of charge. These events are brought to you by the Ellendale Area Arts Council and we hope to see you there.

BARRY GLYNN AND JUSTIN MEIDINGER
Perform Live at the Opera House

Barry Glynn and Justin Meidinger have been trading MP3s via e-mail for three years now, and have enough material to complete an album. They perform together every chance they get. Currently Justin has moved back to Ellendale so the two can finish their debut album and initiate a winter CD release tour. The original duo has become a trio with the addition of Tyler Olsen on drums. Tyler brings youthful angst to the group as well as being a great musician.

Justin started playing guitar by learning the music of the heavy metal bands. As he matured from a guitarist into a musician, he was influenced by Clapton, Page, Vaughn, but especially Hendrix. Barry is influenced deeply by Bob Dylan. Over the years, Barry has transformed himself from a singer/songwriter that sounds like Dylan into an artist with his own original sound, and he is an exceptional lyricist. Barry and Justin also are both influenced by blues, country, folk and rock music.

Their set list consists of a song or two from each genre mentioned, but mostly consists of original music combining all of these styles. When asked the type of music they play, they usually answer that it is a Dylan meets Hendrix sound. They will be performing at the Opera House at 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 24th, for Jami Eberle’s photo exhibition reception, which begins at 6 PM. The reception and concert are open to the public free of charge. The group will also be playing a full set at the Corner Corral immediately following the reception.
