Beaver Lake State Park provides an escape from the rigors of everyday life, offering a relaxing atmosphere in a secluded outdoor setting next to lake offering a full array of water recreational activities.

The park is located in south central North Dakota on the west shore of Beaver Lake, 17 miles southeast of Napoleon. Comprising 283 acres, the park provides modern and primitive camping opportunities along with three camping cabins for those wanting to get away from it all.

Visitors will find an amphitheater, picnic shelters, playground, modern comfort stations with showers and miles of hiking and biking trails.

The modern campground, with 25 electrical sites, is an oval loop that was originally a half-mile horse racing track. It’s not hard to imagine the mighty equines charging around what was one of the state’s fastest courses, ear back, legs flying, straining for the finish line as colorfully clad riders, urging the horses on, held tight for dear life.

Park guests find plenty to occupy their time, whether its studying the area’s fascinating history, discovering the plentiful natural resources, taking advantage of refreshing water sports, or just relaxing in the shade of an American elm.
