Connecting the northern and southern portions of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Badlands' Maah Daah Hey Trail has gained a reputation as the longest continuous singletrack trail in America.

Named by the Mandan Indians who settled the region, Maah Dahh Hey means "an area that has been or will be around for a long time." The trail is marked by the image of a turtle, which was chosen as the marker because of its determination, steadfastness, and fortitude.

  • This mountain bike tour offers great riding and scenery. With over 100 miles of singletrack and many types of terrain, there are plenty of challenges for even the most experienced riders.
  • The trail covers a variety of landscapes from gently rolling prairie to the barren and eroded region known as the Badlands.
  • There are also opportunities for close encounters with wildlife including mule deer, coyotes, bison and golden eagles.
North Dakota's winters may be downright cold but its summers offer a refreshing escape from the heat. With average temperatures in the upper 70s, the Maah Daah Hey Trail will keep you cool while providing an exciting and beautiful ride.

  • Season: Summer and Fall
  • Duration: 5 days
  • Accommodations: Camping and Inns
  • Mileage: 100 miles
  • Departure: Fly or drive to Bismarck, ND
