Becoming an Outdoors Woman - August 2008 Summer Session
 At beautiful Lake Metigoshe learn the basics: hunting, fishing, shooting skills, navigation, plants and animals. Aimed primarily at women, but anyone 18 years or older is welcome to learn outdoor skills. Workshops include: intro to firearms, edible wild plants, outdoor photography, decoy carving, birds and their nests, predator calling, GPS adventure, bog slogging, kayaking, flyfishing, into to bow, furry critters, plant ID and more.

Rural History Holiday
 Be a modern day explorer. Discover the remnants of a town that began as a bustling prairie tent village and was bought out by FEMA. Activities include a historical tour of Churchs Ferry, Churchs Ferry School museum, remaining buildings, city layout, homesteads, gardens at the farm with anecdotal stories of original settlers, and a tour of the surrounding area - Grand Harbor, the old churchyard and more. All holes are drilled for you, by the Strikemaster Lazer Augers. All bait minnows, waxworms or eurolarvae. Fishing on the go - The guides fish with you and are always "on patrol" searching and moving you to the "hottest" action possible.

Tours at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park
 Come tour the last home of George Armstrong Custer, the reconstructed On-A-Slant Mandan Village, and the Visitor Center (housed in a Civilian Convervation Corps building) Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, the oldest state park in North Dakota, was created in 1907 when President Theodore Roosevelt donated 75 acres of land to the North Dakota State Historical Society. The first phase of developing the state park occurred in 1934 when the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built the visitor center, reconstructed the army blockhouses and several earth lodges, and placed cornerstones to indicate the locations and sizes of the original military buildings, 96 camping sites, multiple picnicking areas, walking trails, a visitor center, a concession stand, and the reconstructed On-A-Slant Mandan Village.

Tour Availability: The Custer House, Visitor Center and On-A-Slant Village are open to the public starting on May 1st, 2008. Tours are offered every half hour with the first daily tour starting at 9 a.m.
Length of Tour: The tours of the On-A-Slant Village and Custer House are approximately one hour each.
Estimated Price: There is a $5 fee per car to get into the park. There is an additional interpretive fee of $6 per adult and $4 per child (ages 5 and under free). Memberships available.
Price Includes: The fee covers the tours of the On-A-Slant Village and the Custer House, entrance to the Visitor Center, the infantry post and the reconstructed stable building.
Other Info: Old Time Melodramas are presented Fridays and Saturdays from June thru July. A concession stand and gift shop are located in the state park. Trail rides are available for a separate fee. Visitors may want to bring: bug spray, water, extra film/batteries for cameras, money for lunch and the commissary bookstore/gift shops and good walking shoes.
