Prairie Smoke Ranch Birding and Prairie Adventures
"You're in the middle of nowhere!"- we hear that a lot from folks who visit the ranch for the first time. It's true, we are located in a secluded corner of the prairie pothole region, where the waterfowl, upland bird and deer populations far exceed the number of people. Truth is, we kind of like it that way. Over the past few years most folks have come to appreciate the sound of wings overhead and the coyote chorus on the horizon at sundown each evening.
We offer birding tours where you can also see the beauty of the native mixed grass prairie which features seasonal native forbs such as pasque flower, prairie smoke, several varieties of coneflowers, blazing star, prairie clover, ground plum and wood/prairie lily.
