NDGS Public Fossil Dig: Pembina Gorge

This dig is co-sponsored by the North Dakota Geological Survey, North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department, and Walhalla Economic Development. An excavation will be conducted at this site where fossils of mosasaurs (giant sea lizards), birds, fish, and squids have been recovered in past years. When: June 23 through June 29, 2014. Where: Near Walhalla, Cavalier County. Cost Per Day: Adult: $90 (ages 15 and up). Fee includes breakfast, lunch, snack, transportation to the fossil site from Walhalla, and souvenir. Time: 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Family Days: Full days, Tuesday June 24 and Wednesday June 25 (youth 10 and up accompanied by an adult), 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Full day includes breakfast, lunch, snack, transportation to and from Walhalla, souvenir. Cost: Family of 2, $110; family of 3, $165; family of 4, $220. Half days: Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29 (youth and up accompanied by an adult), 7 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Half day morning includes breakfast, transportation to site from Walhalla, souvenir.Noon-4:30 p.m. Half day afternoon includes lunch, transportation to site from Walhalla, snack, souvenir .Cost: Family of 2, $55; Family of 3, $85; family of 4, $110.
