North Dakota is open for business

The mighty Red River, and some lesser-known North Dakota rivers, are making some national headlines right now due to the dreaded "f" word:  flooding.  We've been getting calls in our office from visitors wondering about the extent of the flooding and if they should change their travel plans.

The good news is that the flood-fight is going strong and North Dakota remains open for business.

The Grand Forks and Fargo visitor centers report that it is business as usual in their cities.  Shopping and restaurant districts in both cities are not normally affected by the Red River.  Likewise, other cities and towns continue to both stack sandbags and keep stores open.

There are some words of caution though.  Please do not sight-see around flooding waterways, nor impede the vital work of flood-fighters.  Also keep in mind that conditions are subject to change.  For up-to-date travel information call 1-866-696-3511 or visit the ND Dept. of Transportation website.
