Tourism Team Ready to Help

Do you have a special project that needs just a little more muscle to finish this summer? If so, maybe North Dakota Tourism can help. Members of the Tourism Division will volunteer their services (back, legs, arms, etc.) as a group to help finish a project needing a few more bodies. If you have a project or know of someone that does, please contact Tammy Backhaus at 701-328-2526 or tbackhaus@nd.gov. The deadline for submitting requests for services is June 15. All requests will be evaulated and one chosen as a team project.

Happy Birthday North Dakota

North Dakota will be celebrating 125 years of statehood on Nov. 2, 2014. And since we really don't know exactly what Mother Nature thinks of holding a party in November, we're also celebrating on August 16. Plans are underway to develop events to honor our heritage and tell the story of North Dakota throughout 2014. The state will also host a summer event August 16 on the Capitol Grounds in Bismarck. There will be a full day of entertainment:

  • 10:30-11:00 a.m.: North Dakota National Guard 188th Quintet (main stag)
  • 11:00-11:45: Welcome/opening ceremony (main stage)
  • 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Burning Hills Singers (main stage)
  • 12:15-1: Tigirlily (main stage)
  • 1-2: Dakota Air (side stage)
  • 2:30-3: Keith Bear (side stage)
  • 3-3:45: Jesse Veeder (main stage)
  • 4-5: Robbie Vee (main stage)
  • 5-5:30:  Greg Hager (side stage)
  •  5:45-6:15: Kevin Locke (side stage)
  • 6:30-7:15 p.m.: Chuck Suchy (main stage)
  • 7:30-8:30: Mitch Malloy (main stage)

Jamestown Tourism Brand Unveiled

The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation (BCTF) has revealed its new tourism brand for the city of Jamestown. BCTF Executive Director Searle Swedlund announced the new direction during a community event where the “Discover Jamestown” logo was revealed. The new approach embraces Jamestown’s identity as the Buffalo City while highlighting the outdoors. The new brand targets campers, mountain bikers and other outdoors enthusiasts by showcasing the rich beauty of the rolling prairie and the close proximity of the Pipestem and Jamestown Reservoirs. Make an Impression in Your Booth

There is only one chance to make a first impression and travel shows are the perfect ways to make that first impression. Possible clients are at these shows for a reason – to buy. Why not showcase your product with high quality staff and information? Have you invested in your staff by educating them to “work the booth"? Do you have partners that have worked booths in the past? Spend some quality-control time to make sure your message is coming across, not too strongly, not too weakly, and by giving concise information that is attractive to your possible customers. Click here for more information.

Tourism by the Numbers

North Dakota Tourism tracks visitors and spending trends and reports finding to its partners in several ways, including quarterly visitation statistics and annual reports. Click here for details of first quarter 2014.
