ABA Marketplace Builds Relationships

American Bus Association's Marketplace is not just an event for the tour and travel industry, it's the premier event for the tour and travel industry. Marketplace helps you build relationships and gather ideas and provides face time with the people who can grow your business. Registration for Marketplace is April 22. ABA by the numbers:

  • 70% of all professionals in all age groups say face-to-face interactions with different business contacts are highly important for their job performance.
  • Save $943 per business contact by attending a face-to-face marketplace versus sales methods.
  • 93% of all participants booked or anticipated booking business as a result of attending ABA Marketplace.

National Travel and Tourism Week is May 2-10. Now really is the time to toot your own horn! National Travel and Tourism Week was developed by the U.S. Travel Association to promote the value and importance of the travel industry. It’s a great time to not only prep for the busy, upcoming season, but also to write letters to the editor, write legislators and local leaders and tell them:

  • Tourism is North Dakota’s third-largest industry.
  • Tourism positively impacts every county in North Dakota.
  • In 2013, North Dakota hosted 24 million visitors.
  • Tourism investment and advertising pays off. Every $1 spent in advertising returns $94 in visitor spending.

This year’s national theme is “Travel is ____.” We ask that you take that statement and make it your own by filling in the blank with what travel means to you. The U.S. Travel Association has prepared a toolkit with logos, sample press releases and more. Want an example of how to be an advocate? Industry Highlights

  • Sheri Grossman has been named the new CEO of the Bismarck-Mandan Convention and Visitors Bureau following the retirement of longtime director Terry Harzinski. Grossman has been with the CVB since 1997 and served as chief operating officer since 2003.
  • North Dakota Tourism's 2014 four-color print campaign by Odney earned a Silver ADDY at the District 8 awards, qualifying it to compete for a national ADDY later this year. North Dakota Tourism’s Legendary marketing campaign, of which Odney has been part of for 14 years, also was recognized on Forbes.com as not only successful in recruiting travelers to the state, but also in having a strong halo effect that positively influenced people’s perceptions of North Dakota and its economic outlook.
  • Garry Enns has been named interim CEO at the International Peace Garden.
